MINE FOR A DAY
MINE FOR A DAY is one day lived only for yourself. A woman takes a train to a strange city for a day: morning in the carriage, a station bathroom instead of a dressing room, an old cathedral, expensive streets in torn jeans, a park bench, cake for lunch, a sunset, evening shop windows, a chance conversation with a stranger and the night bus home.
Nothing grand happens. No one saves her, and she isn't looking for anyone. That is the point: a day when you owe nobody anything turns out to be the fullest. Different voices sing: sometimes the heroine, sometimes what surrounds her (an old cathedral, a portrait on a palace wall, an expensive shop window). That is why the songs are so different, from dance funk to almost silence.

What The Train Is Carrying
Morning in the carriage. Other people's things and lives: a guitar, a wedding dress, a cake that won't make it. Everyone travels side by side, and nobody knows anybody.
-
Own The Century
She pulls herself together in a station bathroom and tells herself: walk out as if this century is yours. Her hands shake, but you can be scared and sure at the same time.
-
Sit Down
An old cathedral sings. You are not the first to come here with your trouble, and not the last. Comfort by scale.
-
Torn Jeans
Torn jeans on the most expensive street, and not a drop of apology. Not a challenge to the rich, just calm freedom.
-
Four
Four strangers on one street: a man with flowers, a woman with an old dog, a boy with a phone. The fourth is the heroine herself, inventing lives for them.
-
Don't Photograph Me
The portrait of a long-dead rich man sings. He is offended by schoolkids with crisps and by a sign with a typo. He notices a girl in torn jeans who simply looks, but pride wins anyway.
-
Not Doing Anything
A bench, someone else's dog, the phone in the bag. I'm not doing anything, and I'm not ashamed. Rest without guilt.
-
No Notes
Cake for lunch, quick and funny. No wisdom, just ten out of ten.
-
Six Minutes
Sunset. Almost no words, one line: it only lasts six minutes, and that is why it works.
-
Come Closer
The window of an expensive shop sings and tempts. She doesn't answer. She looks at the living street behind the glass and walks away.
-
The Forty Minutes
A chance conversation with a stranger, forty minutes without phones and a goodbye like grown-ups. No number, no «maybe». He and she each tell their half.
-
Nothing Happened
The night bus home. Forty-one photos, eleven of them of one building. Nothing happened, and this day was mine.
